November Worship Schedule

At the October Congregation Council meeting, the decision was made to go to online worship only through November 15. This decision was based on the fact that the Douglas County Risk Dial put us at “Severe Risk of Covid-19 Spread” and the Douglas County Covid 19 Dashboard indicated that Metro Omaha Hospital Occupancy Rate is near 90%. The Council will reevaluate moving back into the building at its November 17 meeting. We will continue to stream our worship services on Facebook Live and have them available on our website. This will continue even when we move back inside for worship.

We continue our walk through the Old Testament by way of the Narrative Lectionary.

  • November   1 - All Saints’ & God's Care for the Widow: 1 Kings 17:1-16 (See more info below.)
  • November   8 - Jonah and God's Mercy: Jonah 3:10—4:11
  • November 15 - God Calls Isaiah: Isaiah 6:1-8
  • November 22 - God Promises a New Covenant: Jeremiah 31:31-34

All Saints' Sunday - November 1

All Saints' Sunday is when we remeber and give thanks to God for the saints who have gone before us the past year. This year we will remember and give thanks to God for Ruth Cafferty, Dave Kohrs and Chuck Plummer. As is our tradition, we will light candles for each of these saints and float them in the baptismal font as a reminder of God's promises made to each of us in baptism. After we light these candles, we typically invite the congregation to come forward and light and float candles for other loved ones who have gone before us. Since this will be an online only worship service, friends and members of the congregation are intived to email me so that I can light the candles for them. In your email, let me know if you want me to name the person for whom the candle is lit or just light the candle. CLICK HERE to email me.

Thanksgiving Eve Worship - November 25, 7:00 pm

The focal point of our Thanksgiving Eve Worship will be a piece of art which reflects the thankfulness of the friends and members of Holy Cross. Everyone will be invited to write their expressions of thankfulness on a 2 inch acrylic disc. These discs will then be made into a piece of art. There will be three opportunities to come to church, write out your expressions of thankfulness and spend some time in the sanctuary. These three times are: Sunday, November 22, 12:00 noon - 2:00 pm; Monday, November 23, 4:00 - 6:00 pm; and Tuesday, November 24, 5:00 -7:00 pm. An email with a sign-up sheet for when you want to come to church will be emailed out later in November. If you do not want to come to church to write out your expression of thankfulness, you can email it the church office we will write it one a disc for you.
